I really liked the journaling aspect of this course. It helped me put some of the feelings I've been experiencing into words and honestly helped me feel a little better about some of the things that happened. In general, journaling is a great learning tool. It's a great way to increase student involvement and make the material relevant to them.

It explains well the different feelings that are normal to experience for both the parents and the children. I also found it more useful than mediation because it dove into issues of emotional abuse and substance abuse that were ignored throughout my process. I finally felt supported in frustrations. I also really appreciated the outlook of developing a parenting plan similar to what the children were used to prior to the separation opposed to just arriving at a 50/50 plan.

I feel like it is particularly important for the next generation of parents to be conscious of breaking old familial patterns and having a grounded understanding for why healthier, conscious parenting patterns benefit everyone across the generational spectrum and strengthen bonds early on that will maintain through a child's development and into adulthood. I really appreciated the in-depth and research-based content and I think that it was presented in a manner that most any adult could understand and apply it easily.
